March 3 [Davidson, North Carolina] – The Davidson College Symphony Orchestra (DCSO) and North Carolina Youth Orchestra joined forces for a spectacular Side-by-Side Concert, bringing together young and collegiate musicians in an inspiring evening of orchestral performance. Under the baton of Tara Villa Keith, Director of the DCSO, the combined orchestras presented an exhilarating program featuring Poet & Peasant Overture by Franz von Suppe, Hikari by Hikaru Utada, Symphony No. 3 in C Minor3. Juba by Florence Price, Danzón No. 2 by Arturo Márquez, and West Side Story Selection for Orchestra by Leonard Bernstein.
This Side-by-Side Concert was a unique opportunity for NCYO musicians to collaborate with their collegiate counterparts, gaining invaluable experience in a professional-level performance setting. The program showcased a rich and diverse selection of works, emphasizing both classical and contemporary compositions that highlighted the technical skill and musicality of the performers.
